Beliefs

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

2 Timothy 3:16-17

“That you may be complete.”

Calvary San Juan is a part of the Calvary Chapel family, which has a rich tradition of teaching Scripture in a way that all can understand. We endeavor to connect the teachings of Jesus to every person’s life. We believe that this has a powerful impact on not only the individual, but the world at large.

  • Our Church mission is inspired by the words of Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

We desire to win, make, go, send and support.

    1. To win people to Christ

We believe that life with Jesus is life fully lived. We make every effort to introduce people to Jesus through gospel presentations in our worship services, outreaches, youth events, and more.

    Mark 16:15

    2. To make disciples

Through Sunday mornings, teaching and preaching through God's word- not just from it. Also through life groups, women's and men's studies, youth groups and internship programs.

    3. To go when called

Through going on mission trips, guest speaking at other churches/church plants to encourage & equip. As for here in Friday Harbor, serving the community (supporting our neighbors, visiting the elderly, feeding the poor, spending time with people, etc.)

    4. To send when possible

To send people in Jesus' name whenever possible; Through outreaches, presenting the gospel weekly, harvest fest, youth groups/summer retreats... and to show the love of Christ wherever we are!

    5. To support when feasible

We currently support and desire to support more missionaries, pastors, Bible College students, men and women who desire to serve God in some form of full time ministry, church plants, and other young churches.

  • SCRIPTURE
We Believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative, and the inerrant Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:15-17, 2 Peter 1:21)

    GOD
We Believe there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1, Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30)JESUSWe Believe in the deity of Christ (John 10:33); His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:34-35); His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15, 7:26); His miracles (John 2:11); His vicarious and atoning death (I Corinthians 15:3, Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 2:9); His resurrection (John 11:25, 1 Corinthians 15:4); His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19); His personal return to earth in power and glory. (Acts 1:11, Revelation 19:11-13, Revelation 19:14-16)SINWe Believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of the human nature, and that all are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ, and that only by God's grace through faith alone are we saved. (John 3:16-19; John 5:24, Romans 3:23; Romans 5:8-9, Ephesians 2:8-10, Titus 3:5)

    ETERNITY
We Believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; those who are saved unto the resurrection of life, and those who are not unto the resurrection of damnation. (John 5:28-29)

    UNITY AMONG BELIEVERS
We Believe in the spiritual unity of the believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, Galatians 3:26-28)

    THE HOLY SPIRIT
We Believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by Whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. (Romans 8:13-14, I Corinthians 3:16; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Ephesians 4:30; Ephesians 5:18)

    PRACTICE
We Believe that we as Christians are examples of the love of God in this world. It is this (agape) love that we desire to possess and without which we have no right to call ourselves Christians. (1 John 4:16-17)

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
